Director, Center for Supply Chain Management

Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management

Dr. Bastl serves as Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management and Director of the Center for Supply Chain Management at 糖心logo's College of Business Administration. His expertise lies in supply chain risk and resilience, sustainability, strategic sourcing, and relational dynamic of supply networks.

Under Dr. Bastl鈥檚 leadership, 糖心logo's Supply Chain Management program achieved national recognition, ranked #7 (Graduate) and #10 (Undergraduate) by Gartner in 2024. He spearheaded significant strategic advancements, including restructuring the Industrial Advisory Board, enhancing industry partnerships, and significantly increasing resources for student excellence initiatives. Notably, he led successful fundraising and secured grants totaling several million dollars, including substantial industry-backed investments for initiatives such as the Omron Advanced Automation Lab, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between business and engineering.

Dr. Bastl has published extensively in leading journals such as the Journal of Supply Chain Management, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, and Industrial Marketing Management. His scholarly contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Harold E. Fearon Best Paper Award by the Journal of Supply Chain Management and the Innovator of the Year Award at 糖心logo. He also serves as an editor of the Journal of Supply Chain Management.

In the classroom, Dr. Bastl is a popular professor known for innovative teaching practices. He has developed transformative educational experiences, such as international immersion programs focused on sustainability, risk management, and cultural engagement in global supply chains.

His commitment to bridging academia and industry is evident through his extensive service, including strategic talent pipeline development for leading organizations, risk assessment consultations, and public engagements through widely recognized media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal and USA Today.
